Choice...
The Art Studio was a busy area of our classroom this morning during Choice Time. The children had experimented with printing in our last art class with Sam and we decided to continue with this exploration in our classroom. The children had the opportunity to print with beads as well as with homemade stamps. We also introduced really cool painting tools. The children dipped and scraped the different shape tools into paint and then moved them along the paper to paint with. The children loved working with paint in the studio !
The children are sculpting with playdough and are discovering how their hands are such valuable tools for an artist. They are experimenting with many techniques such as rolling , pinching, pressing and interest in this area is strong. We are quite intentional in keeping this medium simple and not incorporating at this time any additional tools, cookie cutters or materials.
Working with the small Lego's is a wonderful way to support our children's interest in building, imaginative thinking and fine motor skills. It is exciting to see how the children are now building together and have developed the social maturity to work collaboratively on Lego projects.
Morning Meeting
The children enjoyed a quick visit with Crissy during Morning Meeting and were eager to tell her all about our sculpture and about how we created it. Crissy has been admiring the sculpture for days as she passed our room in the hallways!
Off to our Science Adventure...
The Cardinal children went on an adventure to Upper School today and visited with Stella's mom, Kristina in her science classroom. The children loved the entire experience of traveling over to Upper School and had so much fun sitting in desks and 'pretending to big kids. We looked at the animals that live in Kristina's classroom and the fish tank that will be the home for salt water fish.
