This morning the classroom buzzed with busy Cardinals. Block builders were adding to a structure that has been growing for several days, magnet tiles were being formed into rocket-ships to be used in space adventures as well as housing for some animal friends. The front rug was alive with either readers, or cleared out for dancing friends.
At the tables, there were journals being written depicting all the fun activities the children were thinking of doing with their day off tomorrow. Another table housed our sculpture making with all of the exciting materials that have been brought to our class from various friends these past few weeks. After every area of the classroom had been utilized for a while, the group bundled up and headed outside for some fresh air and to move around in some open spaces.
When we had run and jumped, and skipped, and hopped as much as we felt we could, everyone came inside to sit together and read an interesting story about a little girl who makes an apple person for a friend. The combination of two of our favorite things, artwork and food, came together into a great story. We were inspired by this story and we think there could be an apple project in our future!
