Español con los Cardenales: Nuestro cuerpo (Our body)

¡Bienvenidos familia, amigas, y amigos! During clase de Español, it was Jayden’s turn to choose our destination to a Spanish speaking country. After our traditional morning greeting in Spanish, he suggested we head to Honduras.

To challenge Los Cardenales, they were asked in Spanish how will we get there,
¿Comó vamos a viajar? (How will we travel?)
en carro (by car)
en tren (by train)
en bote (by boat)
en bicicleta (by bicycle)

But, Los Cardenales know too well our mode of transportation as they all responded, “en avión!”  So, off we went en avión to our destination. Upon our return, we settled into this Spanish speaking country and gathered in a círculo. Next, we read the book, “My Body, Mi cuerpo” by Gladys Rosa-Mendoza.
                                                             My Body/Mi Cuerpo

This book was an introduction to the Spanish vocabulary that describes basic body parts
Ojos (eyes)
Oidos (ears)
Brazos (arms)
Manos (hands)
Dedos (fingers)
Boca (mouth)
Rodilla (knee)
Foot (pie)
Nariz (nose)

Afterwards, we sang the traditional “Head and Shoulders” song but in Spanish:

Cabeza, hombros, rodillas
y dos pies
Cabeza, hombros, rodillas
y dos pies

Ojos, oidos, boca y una nariz
Cabeza, hombros, rodillas
y dos pies

What fun! We sang it a couple of times despacio (slow) and then we challenged ourselves by singing it rapido (fast). It doesn’t matter in what language we sing, it’s always a fun song to move to.

We then finished our class with our traditional ¡Adios. Hasta luego! song and Jayden squeezing la vaca. ¡Gracias, Jayden!

¡Hasta nuestro proximo viaje!(Until our next flight.)

Paz,
Alicia
